# Read Facebook posts and ads

> Choose post detail and enrichment for a known URL, or separate ad-library discovery.

A known Facebook post or reel URL leads to post detail. Comments and transcript are enrichment views of that post; ad-library search is a different discovery domain. Choose based on whether you are investigating a public conversation or finding advertising, rather than assuming one search covers both.

The URL above is a **placeholder**. Use an actual returned public URL. A post read may request a first set of comments or a transcript with `--include comments` or `--include transcript`; these can add provider work. For a fuller or separately paged discussion, inspect `facebook.post.comments.read` and pass the post URL or the returned `feedback-id` as its contract allows. `facebook.post.transcript.read` is a separate operation for a post or reel URL. A transcript is text evidence, not video bytes.

Ad search uses its own operation and filters:

Inspect the ad result's country, status, dates and original ad identity before making a claim about active advertising. A provider's current ad record and a past post are different evidence. Facebook profile, group, reels and advertiser collections have distinct contracts; the [source directory](/web/sources) points to discovery, and `web describe` gives exact current selectors. One representative post read passed in September 2026; that does not establish that every post, enrichment or ad query will succeed.
