list and show do not acknowledge. Use --cursor to continue a list with its original filters; --all includes already acknowledged items. notifications count counts unread pointers, not unfinished tasks. Once the original has been checked and any useful work recorded, acknowledge the exact handled ID or IDs. If the original is inaccessible, incomplete, or still needs action, retain that fact rather than treating a notification read as completion.
almanac notifications ack --all-listed applies only to IDs captured by the last list receipt for the same API, identity, and current session scope. It can fail when that receipt is absent or empty, and it can cover more than the item you just examined. Exact IDs are clearer for selective work. A past alert cannot establish that the provider object is still in that state. Email and calendar explain how to read common originals; session review has its own version checkpoint and is not affected by notification acknowledgment.
